How Movus works
Movus turns the iPhone's front camera into a controller. It reads where your body, hands and feet are, many times a second, and each game turns that into a move.
Body tracking, on the phone
Each camera frame goes through Apple's on-device body-pose detection, which finds your joints — shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees. Movus measures everything against your own calibrated pose, so a step means the same thing for a tall adult and a child, near the phone or further away. The frame is then discarded: nothing is recorded and nothing leaves the phone.
Calibration
When a game starts, the calibration screen shows your live outline. Stand where it asks; it turns green when your body is framed and steady, and the game begins. If you step out of frame mid-game, it pauses and asks where did you go? — come back into the outline and a short countdown resumes play.
What each game reads
| Signal | Used by |
|---|---|
| Where you stand (left / centre / right) | Move Rush |
| Crouch and jump | Move Rush, Squat Rush, Boxing |
| Hand positions | Slash, Penalty Hero, Boxing |
| Arm strokes | Swim |
| Upper-body lean | Boxing |

Calories and Apple Health
Movus estimates active energy from each game's intensity and your own body, and can save every session to Apple Health as a workout. See how the calories are calculated.
